“WHERE IS THE RAPTURE IN THE NEW TESTAMENT?” (Part 2 of 2)

QUESTION: “Dear ABM, I can’t find the word “rapture” in the New Testament. What am I missing? Where is it?”

ANSWER:
That is a man-made term. It is known by other names and phrases.

EXPLANATION:

The over-riding consideration is that Paul, and others, are writing to Christians. What interests us as Christians most at the moment? Correct! The rapture! The Lord’s 2nd coming at the end of the seven year tribulation, with his saints, is of ‘minor’ interest, if you will.

There are five factors to consider:

1. Who is writing – mainly it is Paul along with Peter, James and John.
2.
To whom is he writing – to Christians, Timothy, Titus
3. What is the
context
4. What is he
writing about.
5. Having an accurate knowledge of the
dispensations

THIS FOLLOWING PHRASE OF “DAY OF THE LORD” IS NOT THE RAPTURE

The day of the Lord, in the following contexts, refers to the seven years of tribulation and to the battle of Armageddon. The day of Christ, the rapture, is followed by these “day (s) of the Lord”.

“The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before that great and notable day of the Lord come:” (Acts 2:20)

“For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night. For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.”  (1Thess 5:2-3)

“But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.” (2 Peter 3:10)
