Question:
“WHAT ARE HOT AIR BALLOON CHRISTIANS”
Answer: “Those
that separate themselves
from the
written word of God”
The
greatest danger exists when Christians and their churches separate
God’s Spirit
from his written word.
Luther’s
complaint against the Enthusiasts of his time, approximately the 16th
century, was that their spiritual eyes were gazing up to heaven for the
Spirit
instead of studying the word of God.
The
Enthusiasts of that time … and of course Adam being the first … and
indeed of
today, focus on their internal thoughts and spiritual leanings, rather than the written
external word of God.
In
Adam’s case, God spoke to him in the garden as clear as a bell.
Enthusiasts
reject the authority of the written word to centre on their own wrongful
interpretation of the Spirit.
And
here’s the rub Dear Reader, they corrupt
the word of God by prioritizing their own personal experience over proper study of the
written word of God.
Indeed,
the written word … there is only one … that is inerrant, infallible,
inspired
the King James Bible … is THE ONLY vehicle
of the Holy Spirit.
As
Paul said “And take … the
sword of
the Spirit, which is the
word of
God:” (Ephesians
6:17)
No
word of God? No sword of the
Spirit!
Dear
Reader, do you want God’s guarantee?
Well,
if you take the
NIV, ESV, NLT,
NASB, NKJV, Amplified, Good News et al … which are NOT
the word of God … there is NO sword of the
Spirit.
People
using the above perversions, do not end up with a
sword, but with a pool noodle
… you know … those rubbery, wobbly things that little kids poke each
other with
in the swimming pool.
Now
whether the Holy Spirit convicts, converts, quickens, comforts, heals,
guides
or strengthens, he always does it by the word of God … God’s Spirit
is welded
tight to his word.
As the Bible says “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one
another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in
your
hearts to the Lord.” (Colossians 3:16)
Most
of what is spoken of in churches today, concerning God’s Spirit, does more harm than good.
Many
claim to have exciting experiences with God’s Spirit given directly to
them … apart from any objective
revelation from God’s
written word.
Sound
exposition of the Bible is conspicuous by its absence
… and furthermore … sound exposition of the Bible, if given, seems to
be the
least spectacular part of the service!
How
do we know this?
It’s
called the curse of the Digital Bible
… the pew sitter takes his phone and pretends to be following the
sermon/Bible
reading … instead looking at upcoming meetings for the week, the daily
news or
emails that need reply.
These
Christians are like Hot Air Balloons
… having loosed their earthly moorings, sail off into the heavens.
And
of course there always seems to be a certain spiritual superiority over those left on the
ground … having severed their anchor to the word of
the Bible … with their corrupt versions from Rome.
“We
can see more from up here
than you can on the ground!”
“The
eyes of our understanding have been opened from on high!”
“We
are not constrained
by the doctrine that divides!”
Ho!
Hum! You know how it goes Dear Reader.
As
someone once said “Before you get into a Hot Air Balloon, make sure you
have
your King James with you!”
