one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of
heaven;
but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
Many will
say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in
thy name?
and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many
wonderful works?” (Matthew 7:21-22)
Ouch!
Dear Reader, imagine being one of them? What a shocker hearing that?
What an
absolute devastating kick in the guts!
Here
we have Jesus categorically condemning some well-meaning but
self-justifying
arrogant people with a “Hit the road Pal!” “Buzz off!” “It’s all over
Red
Rover!” “Be gone!” “Go to hell!”
For
people who will not study the King James Bible massive
confusion over
this verse …
“Who
does it apply to?”
“Am
I saved?”
“Is
it addressed to me in this present age?”
“Can
I lose my salvation?”
“What
about my good works?” … and the questions continue.
Like
Sylvester the cat staggering out of the darkened room having gone six
rounds
with the Australian kangaroo … you know … dazed and stumbling …
mumbling … Who?
Wha’? When? How? If? But? Who did dat? … the unstudied are
riddled with
a mixture of horror, confusion and uncertainty over these two verses.
At
the outset Dear Reader, if you do not know your dispensations,
this scripture will torment you to ‘kingdom come’ … as the saying goes.
Let’s analyze it:
“Not
every
one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of
heaven;
but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
Many will
say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in
thy name?
and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many
wonderful works?” (Matthew 7:21-22)
This
is clearly contained in Christ’s sermon on the mount (Matthew 5-7) with
his kingdom
of
heaven
doctrine of
works
salvation.
What
we
have in Matthew 5-7 is nothing but works, works and more
works!
And
such is
the exceedingly amazed disciples’ cry of “Who then can be saved?”
(Matthew 19:25)
But
Dear
Reader, this is the whole point … Christ will do all the works
on behalf
of Israel … and he just wants all the glory!
This
is why
the self justification of those of Matthew 7:21-22, is abhorrent to
Christ, and
why he condemns them to hell.
In
essence,
Christ will not have any glory stolen from him by those of
Matthew
7:21-22.
In
summary:
1.
This
is Christ speaking under the kingdom of heaven dispensation which
no
longer applies today.
If
you don’t know the difference, study some articles below to
discern the
difference between the two kingdoms … the kingdom of heaven and the
kingdom of
God … chalk and cheese!
2.
Works
salvation
So
obviously Matthew 7:21-22 cannot under the current kingdom of
God
dispensation … and is contrary to Paul’s
gospel of Acts 16:31 of “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou
shalt be
saved …”
