 ANSWER: “BECAUSE THEY WERE WISE”

WHAT’S THE DEFINITION OF A WISE MAN?
The following scriptures describe a wise man in eight ways:
A wise man will hear, and will increase learning; and a man of understanding shall attain unto wise counsels: Proverbs 1:5
Who is a wise man and endued with knowledge among you? let him shew out of a good conversation his works with meekness of wisdom. James 3:13
And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. 2Timothy 3:15

WHY WERE THE ‘WISE MEN’ WISE?
They had the above eight characteristics. The wise men of the East had 1400 years to sit around and drink coffee, eat biscuits and ponder upon the Old Testament scriptures as they studied all the religions of the world … they knew the Old Testament backwards, forwards and upside down. They loved stars, looking at the stars and following star signs.

WHAT DID THEY KNOW?
1. Ungodly movement in the Bible goes from West to East God drove Adam and Eve east (Gen 3:24); Cain went East (Gen 4:16); Jacob ran from Esau and went East (Gen 28:10); the first tribes into captivity camped East of Jordan (Num 32); captive jews went East (Jer 52); Absalom ran East away from David (2 Sam16-18); the earth rotates East against the sun (Mal 4:2)
2. Godly movement in the Bible goes from East to West
Abraham went West (Gen 12:1-6); Jacob went West to come ‘home’ (Gen 32-35); The Jews entered Canaan from East to West (Num 19-25); Captive Jews returning home went West (Ezra-Nehemiah); Christ (the Sun of righteousness Mal 4:2) moves West and opposite to the earth (1John 2:15); Entering the tabernacle is from East to West.
3. The wise men of the East, knew of the prophecy (Gen 49)
4. They knew he would be a Shemite and Jewish (Micah 5:2)
5. They knew Christ would be marked by a Star (Gen 49:10)
6. They knew this Star was the star of a King with an attached sceptre (Num 24:17)
7. They knew of Daniel 9
That Christ would enter Jerusalem dating from the exact day of the decree of Artaxerxes (445-446BC) in Nehemiah 2:1
8. They knew Christ would be 30 years old before officially anointed as the Messiah (Numbers 4:3, 23, 30 etc)
9. They knew they would be travelling West to see the King
