“ARE YOU IN A HYBRID CHURCH?”
Dear
Reader, a hybrid
church is one in which you feel
there is a lot of choices and freedom … dress down … where you can wear shorts and
thongs and so on.
A good band up the
front; lots of happy clapping; hands raised; groovy Pastor … you
know … dresses down or wears the latest fashion … you know … no tie, sneakers
and tee shirt; friendly people; maybe a café attached, or at
least coffee and scones/biscuits after the meeting; a place where you can swan
around after and catch up on all the goss.
And of course your
choice of Bible … whatever suits you … you know … ESV, NIV, Good News, NLT
or whatever; somewhere where doctrine does not divide.
Where friendship is the key
… in other words … choices … you have lots of choices … and freedom …
bankcard for the collection … good car parking spaces, you can
raise your hands imploringly to the sky asking God to fill you with the
Holy Spirit … you know … somewhere where you can feel your religion.
Heart rate drops …
or maybe skyrockets … and that sort of thing.
Man, you can just feel it,
can’t you?
Kiddies, unrestrained, can wander around in the church while the
service is on … talk and distract their parents … lying all over the floor with
coloured pencils and pictures.
A place where you can put
your Bible on your smart phone … you know … pretending to be
looking up a Bible verse when you’re really checking on your upcoming weekly
appointments or catching up on the news … and that’s just for starters.
And certainly the Pastor is
not using nasty Bible language with words like hell, Satan, dung,
eternal damnation and destruction, everlasting fires of hell … a place where a
very broad net is cast to include anyone that loves Jesus.
Certainly at Bible studies
they welcome lots of different opinions … but of course within the
framework of the church’s constitution … and that’s very important!
As someone once said “All
ignorantly yet ‘confidently’ marching over the proverbial cliff.”
Dear Reader, you will find,
that without a doubt, hybrid churches outlaw/look down upon/scoff/deride
the perfect Bible being the infallible and inerrant Authorized King James
Bible.
Someone asked me the other
day, what I thought about a particular church I went to check out … and I said
“Well, they’re not Islamists and Moslems … that’s for sure … well I think
they’re not. They’re there because the vehicle they ride is Jesus not Allah.”
What an indictment! A bit
harsh you think?
Although we now have a
British king that is the Protector of ALL faiths! How about that!
Well Dear Reader, the above
is now the norm for today’s churches that want to grow.
And why do they need to
grow? It’s always money Dear Reader … debts, mortgage, upkeep, salaries,
insurances and so on.
But of course did I mention
that the Spirit is the focus now … how to get filled with the Spirit … assisted
by songs that have been written by youngish song writers … not
the stuffy theologians as once was.
And of course any self
respecting church now has now added ministries … music, data, sound
for example.
Where women can
become elders, preachers and Pastors, and song leaders up the front … and young
people too.
The list goes on and on an
on and on and on …
But of course churches are
simply being straitjacketed by the world around … gender, long hair for
males, women wear men’s clothes, hybrid cars, buffet choices in all manner of
things.
